Eric has been the Pastor of Frederick Presbyterian Church since September 2006, having previously served churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He has several ministry emphases, including worship that is active and participatory for all, and a congregation that is mission-focused.
Originally from Hopewell, Virginia, Eric first entered the ministry as a Director of Music and Organist, before entering Columbia Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1991) in Decatur, Georgia. Continuing his study in the area of worship, Eric completed a second master’s degree in Liturgical Studies at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana (2003). He furthered his studies in worship and preaching at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois (Ph.D., 2006).
Eric has taught worship and preaching classes at Garrett and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Worship at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. He is the co-author of The Work of the People: What We Do in Worship and Why (Alban, 2007), a guide to help congregations and worship committees think about the worship of the church. Eric serves the larger church as a member of the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song (PCOCS).

As Office Administrator for FPC, Susie is often the first person members and visitors meet when they contact the church. She coordinates communications, including the weekly church bulletin, monthly newsletter, and frequent emails to the congregation. Susie came to FPC in 2007 after retiring from Howard County Public Schools, where she spent 32 years as an elementary vocal music teacher. Involved in agriculture all her life, she currently raises goats and is an active 4-H leader in Howard County.
Jenny is a 2007 graduate of Hood College with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development. She works as a nanny for two families. Jenny is married to Pete Genovese, and the two enjoy playing softball together on FPC’s outstanding team. Jenny’s love of children is evident in the way she engages with the youngest members of the FPC congregation.
